The George F. Johnson Dream Center for Community Empowerment was begun at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church  to continue the Johnson family legacy of creating goodwill in our community.

Check Out our Annual "Bike Day!"

The Dream Center holds a bike drive for youth 8 years of age and up each year, to help youth get to fun and safe programs and parks for an alternative to the street.  Bikes are collected year round and can be dropped off at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 308 Main Street, Johnson City, NY, Monday thru Thursday, 8:00 am to 1 PM.  The give away takes place on the second Saturday of May each year, from 1 to 4  PM in the Wilson Hospital parking lot next to Sarah Jane Johnson Church.  Youth are referred to the event by area agencies, where they receive a helmet, are fitted to a bike, must take a safety course and agree to wear a helmet while riding.
To make this program possible, there is a need for team leaders on the day of the giveaway, donations of backpacks and locks, and people to work with the Southern Tier Bike Club to recondition bikes.
