Through the Dream Center, Kids can leave the "persona" behind and
just be kids . . .
Have an alternative to the street
with free team sports,
and gain skills for future life success . . .
Learn that college IS an option throughout the year, and when they visit local colleges each summer . . .
That "the woods," are not "filled with bears, but are peaceful places,
which are good for the soul,
... that kids love dirt.
We
learned that dirt was something that our kids did not know they liked until ...
we began Johnson City's first community garden!
And they learned that when they speak,
we listen.
When our kids told us that they did not feel safe in their neighborhoods, the Dream Center began,
"Keep the Legacy Alive,"
an initiative for neighborhood restoration in Johnson City, NY. We applied for and received a $24,000.00 grant from the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, to give to residents to help improve the exterior appearance of their homes, whether they rent or own the building.
We have designated Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 PM as "Restoration Wednesday's," and are asking the community to converge on the South side of Johnson City to come alongside neighbors in a struggling community. Click "Get Involved" to register your group to "Keep the Legacy Alive!"
Join us.
We're changing the world.
Join God while He does a brand new thing in a tried and true setting."
